About Us Genesee Academy sets the foundation for good character based on Islamic belief and values, and provides a healthy, dynamic and interactive learning environment with technical and communication skills to prepare its students as future leaders.
INTRODUCTION
Genesee Academy is NCA accredited pre-K to 8th grade private Islamic School, located in Swartz Creek, serving the greater Flint area. Our school was established in 1995, with an enrollment of 47, which has grown to over 170 students in 2008.

Genesee Academy is committed to prepare young men & women, with a strong set of Islamic Values, ready to excel in higher education at public or private schools.
PHILOSOPHY
Genesee Academy upholds the Islamic values in education. The academic programs are designed to prepare students to excel all national & state academic standards. We believe that the student’s knowledge of the world and practice of their Islamic beliefs should be integrated in order to develop a well-rounded, productive, and balanced human being. The school also offers extra-curricular activities for the child’s physical & social development.
CURRICULUM
Genesee academy’s curriculum is aligned with national and state standards and includes competitive Arabic language and Islamic studies program. Highlights of the curriculum:
A documented curriculum guide is used to ensure compliance & consistency.
Daily schedule of 7 classroom periods provides sufficient instruction time (9% greater instruction time than other public or private schools).
Core subjects include: Islamic Studies, Arabic language, English Language, Math, Science, Social Studies, Qu’ran, Computer Science and Physical Education supplemented with science and computer laboratories.

- Performance measurement and feedback at Genesee Academy is an on-going process, and we utilize multiple instruments:
- Regular evaluations: graded homework, quizzes and tests
- Pre and Post-assessment tests Wide-Range Achievement Test (WRAT) at start and end of school year
- Mastery skills check lists
- State Assessments Tests such as Michigan Educational assessment Program (M.E.A.P)
- Nationally normed tests such as California Achievement Tests (CAT)
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Genesee Academy and our students have achieved the following milestones:
- North Central Association (NCA) Accreditation achieved.
- 20% of Genesee Academy’s student participation in regional Science Fair which constitutes 15% of the total entries. Genesee Academy received the most awards of all participating schools.(33% were finalist award recipients)
- Winner of Governors state essay competition
- Established continuous improvement committee that supports curriculum development in the areas of Islamic Studies, Math, Science, English, Computer and technology
- Our alumni are excelling at both public and private high schools with a grade average of 3.5 and above.
- Our students scored higher in MEAP than most of the schools in Michigan. More than 80% of our graduating class received meet or exceed standards in Math and Social Studies, and 100% exceed in Science standards.
